Head to your local library

Each holiday period, the local libraries host a range of events. Check out a few of our favourite FREE activities below!

  • Enjoy pizza and games at the end-of-school holidays party at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri City Libraries.
  • Learn the basics of sewing with the ‘Make it Sew’ kids lessons at Singleton Public Library.
  • Test out your skills in using virtual reality at Singleton Public Library.
  • Learn to draw a beautiful butterfly at Maitland City Library.

voco Kirkton Park, Hunter Valley

Let the kids have some holiday fun at voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley. Their FREE activities are open to the public and include:

  • Daily animal feedings.
  • Animal petting zoo every Saturday from 2.30 pm.
  • Face painting every Saturday.
  • Kids planting activities Monday and Tuesday each week at 11 am.

Maitland River Regatta

Put your swimmers on and head straight to RH Taylor Reserve, Lorn on Thursday 26 January for an afternoon of family fun! From 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm, float your way down the river as you participate in the Maitland River Regatta!

Dive in Cinema, Maitland

Get your favourite floaty and head to the Maitland Aquatic Centre on Saturday 28 January for the Dive in Cinema. The local favourite film night will be complete with entertainment, food, laser tag and lawn games, as well as free swim time.

Heddon Greta Drive-In

Pack up the car and head to the only drive-in cinema in the Hunter Region, Heddon Greta Drive-In. Movies will be shown 7 days a week for the entire school holiday period.

Lone Star Rib House & Brews, Maitland

Every Monday – Friday of the school holidays you can get any kids meal for just $2 with the purchase of any main meal! This is a special school holiday deal and ends soon.

Go Karts Go, Hunter Valley

If you’ve got a need for speed then you need to check out Hunter Valley’s biggest, fastest, and most exciting 4-stroke Go Kart hire track. With the latest Go Karts from Europe as well as specially designed junior Go Karts, it is sure to be an exhilarating experience.

Pulse Climbing, Maitland

If you’re wanting the kids to get up and be active, then you should check out bouldering! This indoor rock-climbing facility is open to ages 5+, with climbing walls ranging from beginners for kids to advanced for more of the hard-core climbers.

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park

Explore the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park! Learn about the different animals currently living in park and even get up close and personal to a few in the walk-through interactive yards. You can feed a giraffe, play with some squirrel monkeys, and even meet some cheeky meerkats!

Dull Boys Social Co, Rutherford

If you're after a family fun day out, check out Dull Boys! This newly opened location includes 16 bowling lanes, retro arcade games, virtual reality and 18-holes of themed mini-golf. Don't forget to grab a pick-me-up from their family-friendly diner or cafe before leaving!
